Proclamation of USA DANCE Day
WHEREAS, USA Dance was formed in 1965 to improved the quality, quantity and acceptance of ballroom dancing in the United States, and;
WHEREAS, USA Dance serves as the National Governing Body for DanceSport, the competitive version of ballroom dancing as well as organizing and supporting programs for the recreational enjoyment of ballroom dancing by all ages and
WHEREAS, As members of the United States Olympic Committee, USA Dance Promotes DanceSport as a sport both nationally and internationally-including supporting national, regional and local championships-and fosters its inclusion in the Olympic and Pan American Games and;
WHEREAS, USA Dance is holding it first national dance cruise aboard the luxurious Costa Atlantica, featuring a week of fun-filled dance activities, and;
WHEREAS, Members of USA Dance-nearly 400 strong-will be visiting beautiful Key West during this weeklong dance cruise to enjoy the many attractions, shopping and activities that have made Key West one of the country's most popular vacation sites;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Craig Cates, Mayor of the City of Key West, do hereby proclaim Monday, November 29th 2010 as USA Dance Day in the "Southernmost City of the Continental United States" I would like to urge all citizens, residents and visitors of our Southernmost City to welcome USA Dance members to our fair city, recognizing the positive impact this origination will have upon our community.
