BROOKLYN, NY – One of the world’s fastest growing sports – DanceSport – attracts hundreds of thousands of athletes to train and compete for National and World DanceSport Championship titles in nearly a hundred countries around the globe.

In the United States, the prestigious IDSF World DanceSport Championship Latin only happens every 10 years and showcases the “best of the world’s best” International style Latin dancers, who will dance round after round to become the World Champion in one of the most competitive of all DanceSport divisions.

In Brooklyn, NY, on Saturday, Nov. 13, event co-organizers USA Dance Inc. and Sam Sodano will welcome 78 of the world’s top Latin couples representing 50 countries around the globe to the Marriott Hotel at Brooklyn Bridge. The IDSF 2010 World DanceSport Championship Latin is sponsored and sanctioned by the International DanceSport Federation (IDSF).

USA Dance is the National Governing Body for DanceSport in the United States and a member organization of the U.S. Olympic Committee. Sam Sodano is one of America’s premier DanceSport competition event organizers. The Latin couples are their country’s national champions.

In addition, the IDSF World DanceSport Championship Latin attracts the world’s most acclaimed judges and world association officials as well as dignitaries from around the globe.

Representing the United States are two Latin DanceSport couples – Valentin Chmerkovskiy and Dariya Chesnokova, the 2010 National Adult Latin Champions representing the USA at World Championships; and Ruslan Aydaes and Valeriya Kozharinova, the National Adult Latin Champion Vice-Champions.

Early rounds of the competition will begin at 11 am on Saturday, November 13, progressing to the finals Saturday evening, during which there will be special guest performances from America’s finest professional and amateur dancers.

According to Daphna Locker, Event Chairperson, “The IDSF World DanceSport Championship Latin is the premier DanceSport event in this country. At the already sold-out arena, spectators will see the World’s finest ‘real life’ dancing stars in action.” And as Locker confirmed, this event’s audience will also include DanceSport dignitaries from around the world some of America’s best known ballroom and entertainment personalities – including celebrities from the popular dance shows such as “Dancing with the Stars” and “So You Think You Can Dance?.”
