Where are you located?

Dances are held at the Southern Pines Elks Lodge, 280 Country Club Circle, Southern Pines NC 28387.

When are the dances held?

Dances are held the second Saturday of each month. The exceptions are April and September when they are on the third Saturday of the month. Doors open at 6:30PM. Dance lesson starts at 7:00PM. The lesson is followed by open dancing until 9:30PM.

What is the cost?

The cost is $10 per person. If you decide to become a member of USA Dance,  the cost drops to $8 per person. If you're interested, we are happy to explain how to become a member.

Do I need to come with a dance partner?

Not at all. Dance lesson are conducted so that participants switch partners multiple times. And regular dancers at our events enjoy dancing with others. Both of these are great ways to meet new people and become more comfortable dancing with others.

How should I dress?

Attire is typically "dressy casual" or "business casual". However, during the hottest months of our Carolina summers, we dress a bit more casually. And, because September is National Ballroom Dancing Month, our event is more "formal" and includes dinner and dancing.

Is food available?

Regular attendees bring food and snacks that are placed on a buffet for everyone to share and enjoy. However, if this is your first time attending, don't worry about bringing food - just come and have fun!

Is a bar available?

Yes, a cash bar is open throughout the dance.

What kind of music can I expect?

The DJ plays a wide variety of pop and classic music suited to the variety of dances.

What kinds of dances can I expect?

Once you get comfortable at a table, you'll see a list of the dances for that evening in the order they'll occur. Dances typically include: Fox Trot, Rumba, Waltz, East and West Coat Swing, Salsa, Samba, Single Time Swing, Cha-Cha, Merengue, Hustle, Tango, and Bolero. You may even dance a Polka or a Barn Dance!

Will I feel "out of place" if I don't know how to dance?

People who attend our dances have very wide range of dance experience from first-timers to more experienced dancers and everywhere in between. Our goal is to make everyone feel comfortable and enjoy their time with us regardless of their experience! There are even some people who simply enjoy the music, food, and conversation and seldom get on the dance floor.

Who attends the dances?

The dances are primarily for adults of all ages. You will also see a few high school age dancers who have taken dance lessons and feel comfortable on the dance floor.

What is the dance floor like?

The large dance floor is wood parquet and provides plenty of space for all types of dancing.
