THE ELECTION PROCESS HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO AUGUST 15, 2020 AND DURING THIS INTERVENING TIME PERIOD THE NOMINATION & ELECTIONS COMMITTEE WILL INTERVIEW, IN AN UNBIASED AND FAIR MANNER, ALL NOMINEES THAT WERE NOT PREVIOUSLY INTERVIEWED WHO MET ALL THE HARD REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ELECTION.ANNOUNCEMENT.
1) The Nomination and Elections Committee is instructed to inform each nominee not approved for placement on the 2020 ballot of the reasoning for the decision, with a copy of reasoning provided to the Board of Directors; and
2) The Nominations and Elections Committee is instructed to inform each nominee not approved for placement on the 2020 ballot that:
A) The nominee may seek reconsideration of the Committees decision from the Board;
B) Any nominee seeking reconsideration must request reconsideration within 5 days of receiving the reasoning for the Committee's decision not approving the nominee for placement on the ballot;
C) Requests for reconsideration should be sent to Herb McGurk, Chair of the Ethics Committee for distribution to the Board;
D) Any request for reconsideration should contain the reasoning of the Committee; an statement from the nominee explaining why the nominee believes the Committee's decision should be reversed, and any supporting documentation the nominee wishes to supply;
E) Disinterested members of the Board will review and address each request for reconsideration on an expedited basis. The Board's decision and reasoning will be published to the membership.
NOTICE OF UPCOMING ELECTION TO BE HELD IN 2020
USA Dance Inc. will conduct an election in the fall of 2020 for the following Governing Council positions:
- National President
- National Secretary
- Vice President for Professional Dance
- Vice President for Social Dance
- DanceSport Delegate (two positions)
Any member of USA Dance in good standing who has been a member for at least one year preceding January 1, 2021 (note that a renewal break in membership, not to exceed 20 calendar days is permissible) may run for any of the above positions with the exception of an additional qualification for the DanceSport Delegate positions as described below.
Those who run for a DanceSport Delegate position also must have placed in the top fifty percent (50%) of Championship Athletes in any style or age category at the USA Dance National Championships within the previous two (2) years or have been a WDSF World Representative within the previous ten (10) years preceding their election.
The General Election Process and the Nomination Process is presented in the linked document USA Dance Policy Governing Elections . Nominations for all positions will be accepted through May 31, 2020.
All completed election materials (including any forms, resume of qualifications, photograph and written confirmation of willingness to serve) must be sent to the National Nominations and Elections Committee Chairperson to arrive no later than May 31, 2020. Any election materials received by the National Nominations and Elections Committee Chairperson after May 31, 2020, will not be considered. Any Candidate whose completed set of election materials has not been received by May 31, 2020, shall not have their names placed on the ballot.
The required election materials to be submitted by each nominee are:
- Verification in writing of qualification and willingness to serve
- Signed confidentiality agreement
- Signed conflict of interest statement
- Resume of their qualifications

- Nominee may also provide a personal statement of no more than 500 words describing their reasons for running for election.

No other social media outlet is being provided with any official communications from the USA Dance Nominations and Elections Committee. All other social media outlets that purport to provide official news regarding the USA Dance Election process and/or decisions made by the USA Dance Nominations and Election Committee are misleading USA Dance members as well as the public. The information provided by such social media outlets has and continues to be inaccurate and misrepresentative of the USA Dance Nominations and Elections Committee processes and decisions.
All members as well as the public are encouraged to obtain official information from the USA Dance Web election web site elections.usadance.org as well as the candidate’s web pages and disregard any election communications from all other social media sites.

Candidate information will be provided directly or via links on elections.usadance.org and/or other USA Dance controlled electronic media. When this occurs, the membership will be notified via email, Facebook and/or on the front page of usadance.org
Information provided will include links to any electronic campaign sites of the candidate's choosing except USA Dance sites.
The entire membership is to be reminded that they must follow all USA Dance guidelines and policies regarding their behavior during the campaigns.
