A lot of volunteer work went into setting up a new Professional Council of USA Dance. All of the new policies, procedures, and documents had to be written from scratch and submitted for edits and approval of the Governing Council. This upcoming election will select the officers that will put all of this hard work to use.
After serving on the first Professional Council of USA Dance, I am seeking the office of Vice President of the Professional Division. The most important qualities I offer as your new Professional Vice President is experience, with trust and reliability. This is my opportunity to represent, assist, and serve you, the professional membership.
During my career, as many of you, I have worn many different hats; professional competitor, Pro/Am competitor, competitive coach, social dance teacher, studio owner, competition organizer, and adjudicator. I have served on the United States Imperial Society’s National
Committee as Treasurer and as Exam Director of USA Dance.
In my role as USA Dance Examinations Director, I have brought organization to the chaos I inherited. I worked to create and update the much-needed files of examination records, congress attendances, and important adjudicator credentials. I have worked with the WDSF with organizing of WDSF congresses, WDSF Technical Examinations and have served as adjudicator liaison to the WDSF.
I proudly made the investment to become a WDSF Adjudicator in 2014 and have had the opportunity to witness, and be a part of, it’
s development in our country. I have achieved my A level Adjudicator status, passed the 3.0 AJS exam, and have judged many open WDSF Championships as well as a WDSF World Championship.
This experience gives me insight into the challenges the members of the the Professional Division may face in moving USA Dance into the future organization our members want it to be.
I have honed my skills and abilities to work as a team member or as a leader. It has refined my administrative and organizational skills but most importantly has taught me that trust and reliability are the most important qualities to bring to the table.
We cannot go back to the past. Nor should we want to. USA Dance has changed, and must continue to change in order to grow into USOC’
s Governing Body of DanceSport in the USA.
My vision for the USA Dance Professional Council is one of unity. I welcome the fresh and innovative ideas and energy of our newest professional members and I look forward to assisting with development of those ideas and goals through my experience working within
the USA Dance and WDSF systems. As your Professional Vice President, I want to help this new generation learn how to work within the various systems in order to move the organization into the
future. In asking for your vote I pledge to serve the Professional Council by working to promote quality, integrity, fair play, opportunity and respect for both athlete and official.
