People might not have noticed, but the United States is having a kind of significant event this year, on July 4 - its 250th birthday! (Or semiquincentennial, meaning 'half of 500 years', to those who are looking to level up their nerd aura.) Since "USA" is part of "USA Dance Williamsburg"'s name, we decided people should make a big deal of that, so we're going to be trend-setters and have a little bit of an early birthday party at our June 13 dance (and maybe carry over a little to our July dance). Keep an eye out, because we think this is an idea that will catch on with others!

We'll start out the festivities on Saturday, June 13, with a Hustle lesson, since we're pretty sure that was George Washington's favorite dance (or at least we found no evidence to the contrary), and we're bringing in Vickie Spitzer to teach it, who is a Hustle community favorite, but new to us. We'll then have great music by the amazing DJ Doug McRae, and it will all happen on the fantastic dance floor at the Newport News/Hampton Moose Lodge (#1119) (honoring the fact that Benjamin Franklin wanted the moose to be the national bird, even though the committee picked the eagle instead [editor's note: make sure we find a history nerd to fact-check this before publishing]).

You are encouraged to wear red, white, and/or blue on June 13, or you can acknowledge the freedom America is celebrating by *not* wearing red, white, and/or blue - so either way, you're being patriotic! (and enjoying some great dancing) We bet there will even be some super-patriotic Oreos there!

Light snacks will be provided. Note that this venue does not allow outside drinks, but water and soda will be available for sale.
