Abigail specializes in American 9-Dance and has been teaching for three years. She is certified by Dance Vision which is an organization that promotes a national standard for instructors, adjudicators, and students. Alan Hedgepeth

Farmville & Nashville - Alan offers lessons on Monday evenings from 7-8 pm at the Farmville American Legion (3444 Bynum Dr. Farmville, NC). He also offers lessons at the Nashville Community Center on Tuesday evenings (403 S Alston, Nashville, NC 27856). The type of dance taught changes monthly, so it is best to contact him about his current class offerings. He also offers private lessons on all ballroom dances.

Alan Hedgpeth is a member of National Dance Council of America (NDCA) and has earned the Fellowship "With Honors" with the North American Dancesport Teachers Association (NADTA). He has been a professional ballroom dance instructor for thirty-two years. He is registered with the NDCA as a Pro-Am Instructor, Master of Ceremonies, Music Director, Competing Professional and Competition Adjudicator.

He has studied with 2 time International Professional Latin Champion Tony Meredith; 4 time International Latin Professional Champion Bill Sparks; Rickey Geiger, Nick Short, undefeated United States International 10-Dance Champion John Nyemchek, Forrest Vance, Nicole Carroll, Dan Rutherford, Jerry Parrish, Beverly Donahue, John Hatton, Sam Sodano, Sammy Stopford, Pat Traymore, Current World Latin Champions Riccardo Cocchi & Yulia Zagoruychenko.

He is the owner of "A Step Above" Ballroom Dance Studio in Virginia Beach VA. He is currently teaching both private and group classes in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Williamsburg, Virginia. He is also coaching in Rocky Mount, Wilson and Nashville, NC. He is well known for his musical knowledge and choreography.

Alex Zyrianov

Wilmington - Alex Zyrianov is a second-generation ballroom dance champion from Kiev, Ukraine. At age four, Alex begin training at the SERPANTIN Dance Studio in Kiev, which has produced numerous Ukrainian National Champions. Trained in both Standard and Latin, Alex became the vice-European Champion at age nine. Over the next decade Alex went on to win multiple championships throughout Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Poland, Slovakia, and the rest of Europe. At 16, Alex began his teaching career along side his own training regimen, eventually going on to become a well-respected competitor and judge in Ukraine. After finishing high school, Alex enrolled at the Kiev National University of Culture and Arts where he earned a Master's Degree in Ballroom Dance and Choreography. During this time Alex earned the title of Ukrainian National Champion. Alex moved to the US in 2008, where he has worked as an instructor and studio manager in Durham, NC. He has recently relocated to Wilmignton, NC where he owns Wilmington Ballroom. Alex teaches all styles of ballroom dance including American and International.

Ania LeRoy

New Bern - Ania LeRoy is a Ballroom Dance Instructor at Rivertowne Ballroom in New Bern, NC.

Bernie Mallon

New Bern - Bernie Mallon is a Ballroom Dance Instructor and avid dancer at Rivertowne Ballroom in New Bern, NC. He has competed both regionally and nationally in the USA DANCE, NATIONAL DANCESPORT CHAMPIONSHIPS and hopes to compete for many years to come.

Becky Smith-Deitrick

Raleigh - Becky Smith-Deitrick has over 20 years of dance experience in Country Western, Ballroom, Swing and Line dance. She received her certification in Ballroom from the Arthur Murray school of dance in 1998. She holds 2 World championship titles in United Country Western Dance Council in 2004 & 2005, as well as several other UCWDC titles.

She's been involved in dance since the age of 13, and has taught children, adults and persons with special needs. You can often find her husband Shawn and her out with family and friends cutting a rug on the dance floor. Currently she teaches group classes and private lessons at Southern Star Ballroom center in Raleigh NC.

Her motto: Everyone can learn to dance. It's not about the moves, it's about having fun!

Bubba and Joy Williams

Goldsboro - Carl and Joy teach Shag, Ballroom and Line Dance at Top Hat Ballroom Dance Studio in Goldsboro, NC. Top Hat Ballroom Studio is a part of The Heritage Dance Foundation. The Heritage Dance Foundation® is a 501 (C) [3] organization that seeks to promote the international art of ballroom dancing by encouraging opportunities for dance education and cultivating excellence within the performing arts.

Carl and his wife Joy began their ballroom dancing with Top Hat in October of 2006 under the expert tutelage of Norman and Ellie Hooker. Carl and Joy started competing as an amateur couple in 2008. At dance competitions in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 placed 1st in all dance heats. In their first dance competition at the Carolina Classic, they placed 1st in all dances as well as garnering Top Bronze solo exhibition and Top Student Solo overall. In 2011 at the Carolina Classic, Carl and Joy placed 1st in all dances, Best Newcomer International Style Quickstep and Top Student Solo.

Carl and Joy are active members of the Top Hatter Dancers, a community-based volunteer organization. The Top Hatter Dancers perform ballroom dance showcases at assisted living or retirement centers, participate as Friends of the Starlight Dance Band, and support the newly restored Paramount Theater in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Carl is a member of the Heritage Foundation ZPAC committee, music director for Top Hat and ZPAC, and serves as President of the Top Hatters. Joy is also a member of the Heritage Foundation ZPAC committee, Vice President of the Greenville NC Cotillion Club and Treasurer of the Top Hatters.

Brad Wanzor

Virginia Beach, VA - Brad Wanzor is from in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He started dancing in 2005 and received his North American Dancesport Teachers Association (NADTA) certification in May of 2014. He is a member of National Dance Council of America (NDCA) - registered with the NDCA as a Pro-Am Instructor (Bronze Level) and Competition Adjudicator.

Brad is a teacher with "A Step Above" Ballroom Dance Studio in Virginia Beach VA. He is currently teaching both private and group classes in Virginia Beach and Williamsburg.

He has trained and received coaching from Nick Short, Tony Meredith, Bill Sparks, Lori Hedad, John Nyemchek, Dan Rutherford, Nicole Carroll, Pat Traymore, Riccardo Cocchi and Yulia Zagoruychenko.

Chikako Massey

Greenville - Chikako Massey has studied ballroom dance under former USA champions in Wisconsin and Illinois. A trained athlete and award winner in international business and USA Dance's Volunteer of the Year, who puts the same level of tenacity and passion into ballroom dancing and teaching. She is an avid social dancer with a broad repertoire, emphasizing refined technique and artistry. Chikako believes her passion for dancing is due to her genes: her family in Japan includes both a national-level dancer and an athlete. Chikako's firm belief is that ballroom dancing is a social art and is all about sharing fun. She has developed other unique programs, such as Ballroom Aerobics, Ballroom Technique, Non-Traditional Ballroom and special occasion dance.

Correai Moore

Raleigh - Correai is a native of Kinston, NC who has been involved with Latin social dancing since 1999. He first danced and performed locally in Greenville NC before training with the Mambo Dinamico Dance Company in Morrisville, NC. As part of this dance company he has performed at the New York, DC, Atlanta, and Orlando Salsa Congresses as well as other festivals along the east coast. An avid social dancer, his teaching specialty is NY Style (On2) salsa but has also danced and taught L.A. (On1) style as well as merengue, bachata, and pachanga.

DPM Studios with Raquel Williams

Clayton - Raquel started dancing ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop when she was just three years old. After studying for 13 years, she continued dancing on competitive teams and choreographing for special events and shows. In the year 2000, she discovered her love of partner dancing. Her original training was in International Latin but she slowly branched into American Smooth and Rhythm, salsa, hustle, west coast swing and even country-western. She has competed in all of these styles over the past 10 years. In the past three years, she has taught dance part-time while working as a horticulturist. In 2010, she decided to jump into teaching full time in her own dance company and opened DPM Studios. Her business incorporates competitive and social students from adults down to kids. Within the business, she creates many performance opportunities and provides a comfortable place where all people can share the love of dance. In addition to training ballroom students, she is an all-around performance coach for stage presence, modeling, and assists with custom choreography for special events.

Angier - David Geiger has been dancing ballroom for 8 years, and has been teaching dance for 5 years. He and his wife Emily started Grace Ballroom in Angier in February of 2010. They love teaching and strive to create a fun and friendly dancing atmosphere through their teaching.

Joan Caviness

Raleigh - Born a dancer, and creating her own choreography from a young age, Joan's first formal dance training was at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Studying modern and jazz, she stumbled on partner dancing almost by accident, but immediately became hooked and soon joined the UNC-CH formation ballroom team.

Throughout her adult life, Joan has continued to expand her dance training in a myriad of styles of partner and non-partner dancing. The bulk of her competition experience is in the UCWDC (United

Country Western Dance Council) where she was 1999 Showcase Line Dance World Champion and competed in the professional division of Line Dance (Superstars) until 2004. She also competed through Division 1 in couples country competition and was a certified couples and line dance judge from 1999-2004. Joan also danced with her pro-am students, including a two-time world champion.

Joan resides in Raleigh, NC with her non-dancing husband of twenty-two years and their four-legged "sons" Baxter and Sammy. She currently teaches popular line dance and two-step classes at Southern Star Ballroom Center and Wake Tech Community College as well as private lessons in ballroom, country, and swing styles.

Joan considers herself to be a versatile dancer whose main emphasis is on musicality. She enjoys sharing her passion for dance and believes it is never too early or too late to begin dancing. John and Penny DeFino

New Bern - John and Penny DeFino have a real passion for Ballroom Dance. They rank among the top amateur Ballroom competition couples in the US and are Five-Time USA Dance National Ballroom Championship finalists. In 2015 they took 1st Place for their division in American Smooth dancing at the National Competition. They hold a number of National titles in American Style Smooth and Rhythm as well as International style Standard and Latin dances.

John & Penny enjoy sharing their passion for dancing and have been teaching ballroom dance for several years. They have also been active in a number of performances and charitable fund-raisers.

Procopio and Heidi Serrano

Greenville - Procopio and Heidi Serrano both live and work in Greenville NC. They have been teaching Salsa, Bachata, and Merrengue for the Salsa Night for the ECU Folk Arts Society Since 2002. They are members of a salsa dance group, "Nuestro Ritmo" which have performed at several different venues, including Greenville, Grifton, Wilson, Rocky Mount, and Havelock. They are also active members of "Salsa Collaborative of Greenville," a local salsa group that exchanges lessons and ideas. Procopio and Heidi have also been guest instructors for the Greenville Chapter of USA Dance for Salsa.

Randy and Mary Nichols

Greenville - Mary and Randy teach private dance lessons and group classes in the Greenville area. They have been the dance instructors at the Vidant Wellness Center since 2001. They also taught dance for East Carolina University, Pitt Community College, and taught the Farmville Junior Dance Cotillion (6th – 7th – 8th grades) for several years. Mary and Randy took private instruction from a Master's Level competitor and judge for nine years and took Shag lessons from Judy Duke, a Shag Hall of Fame Instructor from Myrtle Beach for seven years. Additionally they took lessons from Master's level competitors Sam and Denise Miller from Virginia Beach for several years. Mary and Randy also won the Regional Marlboro Dance Competition sponsored by the TNN Television network and Mary has won several Gold and Silver Awards in the UCWDC Pro-Am Dance Division at various competitions around the country. They continue to teach Ballroom, Swing, Shag, Country, and Line Dance at their home studio as well as at Vidant Wellness Center.

Rivertowne Ballroom

New Bern - Joyce is the owner of Rivertowne Ballroom, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year. She has been teaching ballroom dance for 12 years and she is ISTD certified to the Associate level in the International smooth dances. She is also part owner of the newly renovated Stanly Hall Ballroom. It is located upstairs over Rivertowne Ballroom, but its 3600 square foot heart pine floor is 3 times larger. They now hold their open dances and many of their classes in Stanly Hall.

Susie Buck

Raleigh - Susie Buck is a professional International Standard and Latin dancer from New York. She has achieved her Ballroom Fellow Degree and Latin Licentiate Degree from the Imperial Society of Teacher"s of Dance of London, England, and her Ballroom and Latin Licentiate Degree from the Canadian Dance Teacher"s Association. Susie is also a registered adjudicator with the National Dance Council of America. Accomplishments include placing in the Rising Star Finals at the United States Championships, a 10 dance finalist at the 2001 Star Challenge in Canada, and a 10 dance finalist at the Heritage Classic Dancesport Championships in 2005.
