What is the Senior Outreach Program?
Glad you asked! Senior Outreach is a USA Dance L.A. County volunteer program aimed to bring the joy of ballroom dance to seniors living in assisted living centers throughout Los Angeles.
What is the role of the Senior Outreach Coordinator?
The Senior Outreach Coordinator (currently Jonathan Friedman) have the responsibility of organizing volunteer dancers to perform at nursing homes, assisted living centers, and other senior citizen residences. They typically schedule these mini showcases once a month or every other month, usually on a Saturday afternoon (sometimes Sunday). Usually between five and nine couples perform, and afterward they open up the dancing to get some of the seniors on the floor
Will my volunteer efforts be appreciated?
They definitely will! Every place we've performed at so far has loved it and asked us to come back. Some would like us to come every month; however, we try to spread out to as many places as possible in the LA area. We can't begin to tell you how fulfilling it is to see the joy and appreciation, and to hear someone say, "this is the best thing we've ever had at our facility!"
